Jingbo Lake, China’s largest and the world’s second largest mountain barrier lake, is located on the main stream of the Songhua River tributary Mudanjiang River in the southwest of Ning’an City, Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province, China. It is 50 kilometers away from Ning’an City, with an altitude of 351 meters. The average depth of the lake is 40 meters.
The annual average water level is 353.65 meters high and 345.61 meters low. The annual average flow is 9.2 to 10 cubic meters per second, and the water storage capacity is 1.625 billion cubic meters. In addition to the main stream of the Mudanjiang River, there are also small rivers such as Dalishugou River and Erzhanxigou River flowing into the lake.
It is a famous tourist, summer resort and convalescent resort, a demonstration site of national civilized scenic spots, a national key scenic spot, an international ecotourism resort and a world geological park.

The whole lake flows to the northeast, flows to the north of Zhangjialiangzi at the head of the North Lake, and then flows out to the northeast into the deep pool of the waterfall. The Manchu language calls this lake “Faku”, which means “Haiyan”. From here, the lake water flows into the Mudanjiang River. Jingpo Lake is a volcanic lava barrier lake. At the exit of the lake, basalt forms a steep cliff, and the lake water rushes down from the top to form a Jingpo Lake waterfall with a width of more than 30 meters and a drop of more than 20 meters, commonly known as “Diaoshuilou”.
The Zhangguangcai Ridge of the Changbai Mountains winds along the lake, with the highest elevation of 930 meters (Laoheishan Sawtooth Lake) and the lowest elevation of 353 meters (according to the lake water level elevation). The whole area is mountainous.
The lake is slightly S-shaped. The total length of the lake from north to south is 45 kilometers, and the length of the lake is 32.5 kilometers according to the straight-line distance between the north and south of the lake basin; According to the curve length of the lake basin, the lake is 45 kilometers long. The southern part of the lake is relatively wide, and the widest part is about 6 kilometers; The north is narrow, and the narrowest part is only about 400 meters. The average width is about 2 kilometers. The whole lake covers an area of about 95 square kilometers.
