The Beijing Youth Daily reporter learned from the press conference that this winter, Beijing municipal parks have set up three major types of activities, namely ice sports, snow sports, and winter Olympic theme exhibitions, and opened 11 ice and snow venues with a total area of 600000 square meters, which can provide more than 40 kinds of ice and snow activities, facilitating citizens and tourists to “go to the park, go on ice and snow, and welcome the Winter Olympics”. In addition, in the post-Olympic era, Beijing will combine the post-Games use of the Winter Olympic venues, actively connect with international ice and snow sports organizations, attract more ice and snow sports events to Beijing, gather tourism and culture in the venues and surrounding areas, and create a place for international ice and snow lovers to participate and consume ice and snow.
The ice and snow park will present “ice and snow”
According to Zhang Yahong, deputy director of the Beijing Municipal Park Management Center, the 8th Beijing Municipal Park Ice and Snow Amusement Fair will enrich the citizens’ winter fitness cultural life in the form of “ice and snow”, highlighting the theme atmosphere of “national fitness to meet the winter Olympic happy ice and snow dream”. Among them, the Summer Palace, Beihai Park, Taoranting Park, Zizhuyuan Park and Yuyuantan Park will hold ice activities, which are expected to be held around New Year’s Day to February 4, 2022. The Summer Palace, Taoran Pavilion Park, Zizhuyuan Park and Yuyuantan Park have held snow activities. Among them, the activity time of Taoran Pavilion, Zizhuyuan Park and Yuyuantan Park is from December 31 to the middle of February 2022, and the activity time of the Summer Palace snow field is from the first ten days of January to the middle of February 2022.
Zhang Yahong said that the municipal park has set up ice sports, snow sports, and winter Olympic theme exhibitions, and opened 11 ice and snow venues, including 7 ice rinks and 4 snow rinks, with a total area of 600000 square meters, providing more than 40 kinds of ice and snow activities, including ice rinks, figure skates, speed skates, curling pots and other sports equipment, ice skates, ice slides, ice bikes and other experience items, as well as ice drift vehicles Electric bumper cars, ice dragon boats and other recreational facilities; The snow field area will carry out winter snow projects that are easy to participate in, such as ice and snow maze, snow treasure exploration, polar animal viewing, snowmobile and so on. “We will further strengthen the security of this year’s snow and ice park. After the opening of the park’s snow and ice rink, we will pay attention to the weather at any time and measure the thickness of the ice layer every day to ensure that the safety standards are met.” Zhang Yahong said that each park will carry out grid security management of the snow and ice activity areas in the park, and set up a “snow and ice service reception station”, equipped with sufficient disinfection articles and emergency rescue facilities. In terms of epidemic prevention and control, the ice and snow field service personnel are vaccinated as required, wear masks and gloves on duty, and conduct daily health monitoring. Each ice and snow rink will be fully disinfected before opening every day, and the participants will be checked for body temperature and Beijing Health Treasure. It is reported that since 2014, around the theme of “ice and snow sports into the park, happy fitness for the Winter Olympics”, municipal parks have held ice and snow fairs for many years in succession, involving nearly 2 million people.
The number of snow and ice sites increased significantly
In order to create a strong ice and snow atmosphere, Beijing has held seven consecutive “Happy Ice and Snow Season for Beijing Citizens” activities, carried out more than 20000 mass activities at all levels and various types, with about 31 million participants. On December 18, the 8th Beijing citizens’ happy ice and snow season has also started. In just a few years, ice and snow sports have gradually become a “fashion choice” from “minority” and “popular”. “The capital sports industry will strive to balance the development of summer and winter sports, so that the people can participate in sports all year round, and promote the improvement of citizens’ physical quality and health level,” said Ge Jun, deputy director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports.
Ge Jun said that Beijing’s ice and snow fields have developed from 42 ice fields, 44 ice surfaces and 22 snow fields before the Winter Olympic bid to 82 ice fields, 97 ice surfaces and 32 snow fields. In terms of youth training, there are 200 characteristic schools of ice and snow sports and Olympic education demonstration schools in the city. “Ice and snow sports on campus” has achieved full coverage in 16 districts of the city, and about 2.1 million primary and secondary students have been on ice and snow. The municipal and district ice and snow sports talent training system has been initially established. There are five municipal youth ice hockey teams, one ski team, and 125 district youth winter sports teams in the city. The number of registered people has increased from 79 in 2017 to 7565, an increase of nearly 100 times in four years.
In terms of competition organization, 119 schools, 126 teams and 1730 athletes participated in the Beijing Primary and Secondary School Intercollegiate Hockey League in 2021, with 319 matches. From 2021 to 2022, the Beijing Youth Hockey Club League held 1224 matches, with 25 clubs, 256 teams and nearly 3600 players participating. In this year’s National Ice Hockey Championships, Beijing men’s and women’s ice hockey teams both won the championship, which is the epitome of the vigorous development of Beijing’s ice and snow sports over the years.
Beijing launched 22 ice and snow tourism boutique routes
According to Liu Bin, deputy director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism held the Beijing Ice and Snow Culture Tourism Season in 2021, and carried out the promotion of the key winter ice and snow tourism routes, integrating various elements such as skiing, mountaineering, hiking, self-driving, gourmet food, and online red card, and launched 22 ice and snow tourism boutique routes, providing tourists with various forms and rich winter travel options.
This year, the Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism set up the theme of “Passion Winter Olympics” in the “Beijing Gift” tourism goods and cultural and creative products competition. A total of 6 products were selected in the top 100 list and 14 products were selected in the sub-list. The Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism also supported and encouraged the research and development and sales of cultural and creative products themed with the Winter Olympics and ice and snow by using the support funds for tourism commodities in Beijing. In 2021, it supported four tourism commodities projects themed with ice and snow.
