Wuhai: Air travel is hot

Wuhai City of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region will “hand in hand with tourism”, integrate the industrial chain resources of culture and tourism from the ground to the air, create an aviation tourism life circle, and increase the new experience of aviation tourism.
A few days ago, the first “Inner Mongolia ยท Wuhai 2022 Aviation Carnival”, jointly organized by Wuhai Municipal People’s Government, Inner Mongolia Civil Aviation Airport Group Co., Ltd. and Beijing United Airlines Investment Group, was held at Wuhai Lake No.1 Wharf. Eight flight teams and 37 aircrafts from China performed, presenting a “Nadam in the air” feast for the audience.
Wuhai City is located in the upper reaches of the Yellow River, bordering Ordos in the east, Yinchuan in Ningxia in the south, the colorful Alashan in the west, and Hetao Woye in the north. It is located in the central area of the economic belt along the Yellow River and the junction of Ningxia Mongolia Shaanxi Gansu Economic Zone. It is an important node city of the “the Belt and Road” and a window of Inner Mongolia opening to the west and south.
Wuhai has convenient transportation, with Baotou-Lanzhou Railway, Beijing-Tibet Railway, Rongwu Expressway, National Highway 109 and 110 passing through the border; There is one 4C domestic regional airport, 10 participating airlines, 13 operating routes and 17 navigable cities, which has opened the air passage with the Pearl River Delta, Yangtze River Delta, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and Southwest China. The region has formed a “quarter hour life circle, a half hour economic circle and an hour city circle”.
As a beautiful city in the desert and beside the lake, Wuhai is the place where the desert falls in love with the Yellow River, and also the first stop of the Yellow River flowing into Inner Mongolia. The Yellow River passes through the city, with the Ulanbuhe Desert of 10000 square kilometers on the left and the magnificent Gander Mountain on the right. In 2014, the Haibowan Water Conservancy Project of the Yellow River was completed and impounded, and the desert came out of the Pinghu Lake, forming the surface of the Wuhai Lake of 118 square kilometers. The water surface is connected with the vast Ulanbuhe Desert, presenting the scene of a big lake connecting the desert, forming nearly 10000 beautiful sand islands, and forming a rare spectacle of “sand, sea, mountain, and city” coexistence.
Wuhai is also a paradise for outdoor sports, with deserts, lakes, grasslands, mountains and wetlands coexisting, providing natural conditions for outdoor sports. As a high-quality venue for outdoor sports such as low-altitude flight, hot-air balloon, marathon, bicycle, desert cross-country, etc., it attracts top domestic and international sports events to settle in Wuhai.
With many advantages, how can Wuhai better combine the navigation industry and tourism resources? Wu Fengrong, director of Wuhai Municipal Bureau of Culture, Culture, Tourism, Radio, Film and Television, introduced that relying on tourism resources such as Wuhai Lake and the coexistence of sand and water, we should explore and carry out aviation sports projects such as flight experience, parachuting, and aviation science popularization education projects to create a new tourism experience in many forms such as aviation tourism life circle, aviation research, sports experience, and ecological outlook.
It is reported that Wuhai has activated the market vitality and development momentum of low-altitude tourism by improving the navigation airport, parking facilities and diversified public service system. Focusing on the six elements of “food, housing, transportation, travel, shopping and entertainment”, we will deeply develop ecological tourism, folk tourism, cultural tourism, industrial tourism, festival tourism, business tourism and other forms of tourism. Promote the drive of product innovation, develop high-end and personalized low-altitude tourism theme products and enhance the added value of tourism while developing popular and economic low-altitude tourism products and expanding the basic market scale.
Wuhai will also carry out investment promotion activities around tourism brands such as “coming to the desert to see the sea” and integrating into the “Jizigou” cultural tourism corridor of the Yellow River. It will focus on building RV travel and desert cross-country travel, deepen “Internet plus+tourism”, vigorously develop the aviation economy, and create tourism projects such as “aviation+water transport”, “aviation+outdoor leisure”, “aviation+health care”, “aviation+calligraphy research”.
